The Palestinian Islamist group, Hamas, yesterday launched the biggest attack on Israel in years in an unprecedented assault into Israeli territory.

Under cover of a barrage of rockets, dozens of Hamas militants broke out of the blockaded Gaza Strip and into nearby Israeli towns, killing hundreds and abducting others in an early morning attack during a major Jewish holiday yesterday.
At least 70 people in Israel have been confirmed killed, with hundreds of others being treated in hospitals, according to emergency services.
A stunned Israel said it is now at war with Hamas and launched airstrikes in Gaza, vowing to inflict an “unprecedented price”.
Nearly 200 people have been killed in retaliatory Israeli strikes in the Gaza strip, according to officials.
Hamas commander, Mohammed Deif says the Palestinian militant group had “decided to say enough is enough”.
